Straw, son of John Straw and Abigail Jane Crosby, on 9 Jun 1855 in Greenfield, Franklin Co, Massachusetts. (Charles Alva J. Straw was born on 27 Aug 1829 in Thornton, Grafton County, New Hampshire, died on 1 Dec 1914 in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery Medford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.). The cause of his death was pyloric obstruction due to old duodenal ulcer. Sarah next married James Monroe Tobey, son of Capt. William Tobey and Temperance Mitchell, in 1864-1867. (James Monroe Tobey was born circa 1825 in Kittery Point, Maine, died on 23 Feb 1890 in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire and was buried in First Congregational Cemetery in Kittery Point, Maine.)
