bullet  General Notes:

IGI files

There were 4 Straws married in Franklin County, OH but since Sarah's family did not relocate to OH until 1831 [and no New England Straws lived in Franklin County] I am eliminating the possibility of her marriage to Samuel Logue. Other Franklin County, OH Straw marriages included:
Daniel Straw 1822 to Martha (Patsy) Bennett
George Straw 1818 to Sally Floyd
Ann Straw 1824 to Wm McParland
[Sally Straw 1822 to Samuel Logue]
I believe these Straws are all children of John David Stroh and of the PA lines

"We have recently come across this marriage registration for James Smith of Chatham, Quebec and Sarah Straw of Vermont. They married in Jan.1820 in Waterbury, VT."

If this is the correct Sarh Straw [about 15 yrs of age] she may have not received consent from her father who was a Methodist minister and chose to be married in a civil ceremony? In any event the couple appears to have "removed to Canada."

See husband Edmund Towne's notes that describe her as the widow of James Smith and d/o David Straw of Waterbury, VT
