Samuel Straw

Samuel and his family moved to VT after November 1823 and prior to son's birth in 1827 (Sylvester born VT 1827) Samuel STRAW was born on 28 Feb 1791 in New Chester, New Hampshire. He died on 11 Jul 1873 in Richmond, Chittendon County, Vermont. He was married to Mary GRIFFIN in March, 1817 in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

Mary GRIFFIN was born on 30 Nov 1797 in Pelham, New Hampshire. She died on 14 Dec 1878 in Bolton, Chittendon, Vermont.

Children were:

i. Ambrosia STRAW. ii. Cyrus G STRAW was born on 31 Mar 1817 in Londonderry, New Hampshire. He died on 28 Apr 1892 in Gravity, Iowa. iii. Mary Jr STRAW was born on 10 Dec 1818 in New Chester, New Hampshire. She died on 29 Jul 1871 in Bolton, Chittendon, Vermont. iv. Elisa STRAW was born on 25 Nov 1820 in New Chester, New Hampshire. She died on 19 Feb 1902 in Bristol. v. Sally B STRAW was born on 17 Nov 1822 in New Chester, New Hampshire. She died on 10 Oct 1835 in Bolton, Chittendon, Vermont.

The originator of this page has a family bible which was begun by Mary (GRIFFIN) STRAW and has information on many family members for several generations into the BURNS line. Much of this information is not available in either New Hampshire's or Vermont's Vital Records Offices. Per census records Samuel lived Richmond, VT 1830-1860.

Jim Townsend lists a female named Meltham b. c 1840 and a William M. b c 1862. He does not list Mary, Elisa, Sally, Rebecca or Edgar. S. Wilson lists all but Rebecca, Edgar and Elvira. per Straw bible he died ae 84y 4m 11d in Richmond, VT

(Mary Griffin was born on 30 Nov 1797 in Pelham, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, died on 14 Dec 1878 in Bolton, Chittenden County, Vermont and was buried in Richmond Village Cemetery in Chittenden County, Vermont.)
