HISTORY OF MORROW COUNTY. OHIO 1826
-"Later in the same year came Benjamin Straw and Henry Lemmon, the latter of whom was the first Justice of the Peace of the township." (HX of Morrow County)

In the summer of 1827, a distillery was erected by Straw & Smart, on land now owned by Peter McClure, in the extreme north part of the township. An incident which occurred during the year mentioned above may illustrate the value of articles purchasable and work performed. Nathaniel Story "slashed " five acres of land for James Dunlap, for which he was to receive a watch. The work completed and paid for, Mr. Story traded the watch to Mr. Straw for a steer and several bushels of corn, to be delivered at the distillery.

(per research of Ken Nemire) Benjamin Straw moved to Morrow Ohio in 1823 from NH. (It may have been as early as 1820 for his son Benning claims he was 5 years old when they moved to Ohio -Benning born 1815 in NH)
Living in Marion CO. OHIO as of 1824. . Benjamin d. abt 1830. Ruth may have lived with son Benning S Straw in Richland Co for the 1840 census.

9/20/1824 Benjamin and Ruth sold land in Marion Co to James Smart. The following month James and wife Hannah sold to Alva and Oril what may be the same land or property.
