Orrel Hamilton Straw

   Another name for Orrel was Oriel Straw.

  General Notes:

Orrel's/Oriel's son William said he was born in ILL [abt 1834] and Orrel/Orriel did buy land [280 acres] in May of 1841 in Palestine, Lawrence County, IL. He was a resident of Lawrence County at the time.
His other son Orrel H also said he was born in ILL in 1838/1839; so it seems likely that Orrel/Oriel first went to OH with his father (ORIEL STRAW: was in Marion Co., Ohio by 1824 -- sold land 10/24/1824), married Jane Bounds - [she may have had a brother, Thomas, who married a Sophia Berry in 1825] in 1826.
Oriel was gone to ILL between 1826 and early 1840. Jane probably died and Orell married again, to Rosetta Main, had William & Oril H.
Oriel was widowed again after Oril H's birth and returned to OH, where he married Zada Babcock. [Zada was the dtr of Henry Babcock & Permelia Emily Poppin, who started out in IN but ended up in Bucyrus, Crawford, OH for a bit.] (research of Sue Phaneuf)

Research of Althea Kriz Sept 2004:
"June from Montana emailed me and said Oriel died Feb 5, 1851, and Zada died August 13, 1850, and they are buried in Crawford County Ohio in the Union Cemetery. "

Orrel next married Rosetta Main, daughter of John Frederick Main and Elizabeth Carver, before 1833 in Marion, OH. (Rosetta Main was born in 1815 in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio, died in 1865 in Richland County, Ohio and was buried in Mansfield Cemetery in Richland County, Ohio.)

Orrel next married Zada Babcock, daughter of Henry Babcock and Emily Poppleton, on 20 Jul 1840 in Crawford County, Ohio. (Zada Babcock was born in 1819 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, died on 13 Aug 1850 and was buried in Union Cemetery in Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio.)
