bullet  General Notes:

Probable husband of Phebe based on research of Ruth Lewin ( lewin@mediaone.net ) his great great grand daughter

Received from ted.burke@freshfields.com via e-mail in response to Rootsweb query Oct 2004:
Abraham Moor (b. abt 1754, NH) m. Mary. I haven't been able to trace Abraham's lineage. I would guess that he was part of the Moor Scotch-Irish clan that came over in the early 1700's from Londonderry and settled in New Hampshire. Abraham and Mary had Eli Moor (b. 1788, Hancock, NH; d. March 21, 1871, Stowe, VT). They show up in the 1790 census as living in Hancock, NH. At some point, they moved to Woodstock, VT and changed their name to Mower. Eli Mower married Hannah Blossom (b. abt 1780, Bridgewater, MA; d. 1870, Stowe, Vt) in Woodstock, VT sometime between 1805 and 1810. Hannah was the daughter of Ebenezer Blossom (b. 1748, South Bridgewater, MA; d. December 26, 1828, Stowe, VT) and Hannah Murdoch (b. April 4, 1752, South Plympton, MA; d. aft 1820, Stowe, VT). The Blossom and Murdoch familes go back to the Pilgrims. Eli and Hannah had Lyman (b. 10/29/1811, Woodstock, VT; d. 3/18/1853, Stowe, VT) and Josephus (b. January 15, 1817, Stowe, VT; d. March 26, 1889, Stowe, VT). Lyman married Caroline Wright Bryant (b. 1811, probably Woodstock; d. April 20, 1851). I have been unable to trace Caroline's lineage. Lyman and Caroline had Richard O. Mower (b. 1840, Stowe, VT; d. 1869, Stowe, VT) and Augustus (b. 1836, Stowe, VT; d. April 28, 1907, Stowe, VT.) Richard died of congestion of the lungs (i.e. TB) at age 29, leaving his wife Phebe Straw Mower and two children, Minnie Mower (b. August 25, 1863, Stowe, VT; d. February 22, 1884) and Richard T. Mower (b. 1865, Stowe, VT; d. 1950, Lowell, MA). Phebe died November 14, 1892 in Lowell, MA while visiting her son. She was buried in Stowe.
