He was the son of a tailor from Salisbury who came to Weare c 1765 and settled in Sugar Hill area. He and Polly Moore removed to Garland,ME after the birth of all their children. Polly died there in 1809 and Edward remarried to Catherine Budge on July 4 1811 and they had four children: Nancy J. b. 12 may 1812 who m. Stephen Perry on 16 may 1842 in Bangor, ME; Thomas B. born 5 June 1816 who m. Sarah S. Counan; Daniel E. born 28 April 1818 who m. Caroline Coolidge first and then Abigail Meserve and Isaac J. born 27 April 1827 sho married first Sarah S. (last name unk) and secondly Harriet J. Budge.
The census for Weare of 1800 lists 5 sons and 5 daughters for Edward..the Fifield genealogy only lists 9 children..7 sons and 2 daughters..
Edward married Mary Moore, daughter of Capt John Moore and Martha, on 13 Sep 1785 in Congregational Church In Hopkinton, NH. (Mary Moore was born on 6 Jul 1767 in Pembroke, Merrimack County, New Hampshire and died after 1809.)
