She is survived by her children Sarah (MacDonald), Christopher, Patrick and William, by grandchildren Chloe, Matt, Vanessa, Samantha, Daniel, Brian, Chad, Adam and Marley, and by greatgrandchildren Luca and Orval. She was predeceased by her husband, William Oliver Straw (1997). Formerly a member of the congregation of the Church of our Saviour the Redeemer in Stoney Creek, she had lived since 2016 on Gabriola Island, British Columbia. She leaves behind dear friends in those places, and in Hamilton, Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Jarvis, Norway House, Lac du bonnet, Guelph, Grimsby and other places where she had resided in her rich and long life. In keeping with her wishes, she has been cremated. A Memorial Service will take place later in the spring in Hamilton.

Ethel married Rev. William Oliver Straw, son of Oliver George Straw and Emily Margery Hawley. (Rev. William Oliver Straw was born circa 1927 in Canada and died in 1997.)
