Robert Johnson, 76, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 27, 1939 in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Earl and Jessie Hine Johnson and step-son of Helen Johnson. Bob proudly served his country for four years in the Air Force. Upon discharge from the military, Bob worked for his good friend George Graves at his service station on Main Street in Gloversville. In 1965, Bob went to work at General Electric in Schenectady. He had various jobs throughout his 30 years of service there, ending as a Quality Control Technician. He retired in 1995. Bob was a member of N. Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville. He was also a member of the Johnstown Senior Center. Bob had a passion for cars, especially the Ford Mustang, and frequented many of the local car shows. Bob enjoyed traveling and shared many trips with his wife, Karyl. He also enjoyed the company of his circle of friends and you were always sure to find him having coffee with his buddies at McDonalds or meeting up with friends from his time at General Electric. He loved and lived every moment. Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend of 50 years Karyl Reed Johnson of Gloversville and his cherished and adored daughter Vicki Ingalls (Kenneth) of Gloversville. Bob is also survived by his step-brother Jerry Smith, several nieces and nephews, and his step-granddaughter, Brittanie Ingalls. He is predeceased by his brother Edward Earl Johnson, sister Barbara Merchant, and step-brother Howard Smith. Funeral services to celebrate Bob's life will take place on Thursday, February 18, 2016 10 A.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Wednesday, February 17 from 4-6 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Bob's memory to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 7000 Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001 or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart funeral Home, Gloversville.
