Duane H. Decker
Warren - Duane H. Decker, 68, 4497 Ohio 82 N.W., Braceville, who died of a heart attack Thursday, will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church on Parkman Road N.W.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at James Funeral Home, 8 E. Board St., Newton Falls.
Mr. Decker was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Windham, the son of John and Lucille Decker, and lived in the Braceville area all his life.
In 1987, he retired from Denman Rubber, where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, American Legion Post 236 and of the Society of The Third Division Outpost 63 in Washington, D.C.
He served in the Army 7th Infantry Division during World War II and was awarded the Froix de Guerre, seven Bronze Stars and a Bronze Service Arrow.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, whom he married on June 4, 1948; eight daughters, Pricilla Dietz, Karen Decker and Annette Chapman of Braceville, Duanne Royse of Lordstown, Toni Angel and Barbara Straw of Warren, Louise Dowden of Rock Hills, S.C., and Tracy George of Newton Falls; two sons, Raymond of Valdosta, Ga., and Victor of Warren; two sisters, June Wachter of Warren and Virginia Stavenger of Garrettsville; two brothers, Rowland and Max, both of Southington; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Duane H. Decker II; and by three sisters, Elsie Martin, Harriet Swisher and Wionna Decker. 12/8/90
