Frederick Ballard
With heavy hearts we regret to announce after a lengthy illness, the passing of Frederick J. Ballard, beloved husband, father and grandfather. Fred passed away at the Central NL Regional Hospital on October 5, 2013 surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Fred retired from Abitibi Price after a successful career and was well respected by his co-workers. Fred was an active member of his parish community and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid gardener, woodworker (many grandchildren benefited from his woodworking skills). He was known to be a gourmet chef, creating many exciting dishes for family and friends. Freds kind and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Nellie Ballard; brother, Steve; infant son Patrick; sisters, Ann, infant sister Bridie. He leaves to mourn his wife Patricia; sons: Bob (Shirley), Pat (Sonia), Fred; daughters: Carol Ann (Jack) Cooper, Patricia, Kathy (Ed) Freake, Colleen (Rod) Hunter, Bev (Gary) Campbell, Sylvia (Dave) Drover. Also left to mourn his sisters, Mary (Allan) Bowers, Geraldine Sheppard and Bride Renaud; grandchildren: Eddy, Jennifer, Adam, David, Megan, Michael, Jonathan, Marsha, Melissa, Ashley, Blair, Ryan, Brittnye, Sarah and Justin; great-grandchildren, Jack, Lauren and Evan and a circle of other relatives and friends.
Father William Houlahan will conduct the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Parish, Grand Falls-Windsor on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 with interment at St. Joseph's Parish cemetery.
