FIANDER, Aubrey Cecil - 75, The Birches, Musquodoboit Harbour. The family regrets to announce the passing of Aubrey on Thursday, January 29, 2004, in The Birches. Born June 9, 1928, in Burgeo, NL, he was a son of the late Harry and Annie (Knott) Fiander. Aubrey went to sea with the Merchant Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy and retired from the Dartmouth District School Board in 1989. He enjoyed bowling along with fishing and hunting in his favourite place, Granny's Brook, Burgeo, NL.
Aubrey is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Marion Sheppard; daughter, Loretta (Ken) Jollymore, Dartmouth; sons, Aubrey (Sharon), West Chezzetcook; Cecil (Linda), Eastern Passage; sisters, Gladys (Rupert) Buffett, Dartmouth; Thelma (Norman) Hare, Burgeo, NL; Madge (Horace) Pye, St. John's, NL; brother, Robie (Molly), Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Patty Fiander, Eastern Passage; sisters-in-law, Theresa Fiander, Dartmouth; Jean Fiander, Corner Brook, NL; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Harry; brothers, Bill, Leonard. At his request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 1, and funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, February 2, Rev. Pam Bishop officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Aubrey's memory to The Birches ("B" Wing Programs), 7702 Hwy. 7, Musquodoboit Harbour, NS, B0J 2L0, would be appreciated.
