It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie S. Sparkes announce her passing on Saturday, February 3rd, 2001 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in her 73rd year. She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband Chesley. By her children, Cheslea (Lloyd) Critch of Wiltondale, Elizabeth (Norman) Gilley of Rocky Harbour, Roy (Rita) of Kelligrews, Melva (Doug) Simms of Corner Brook, Valerie (Blandford) Duval of Trout River, Venus (Wilson) Thomas of Balmertown, Ontario, Wayne of Manitoba, Phillip (Nancy) of Eddy's Cove, Gavis (Della) of Rocky Harbour, Ruth (John) Forward of Corner Brook, Patricia (Darren) Reid of Rocky Harbour. Her daughter-in-law Barbara of Rocky Harbour. 31 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Five sisters, Florence, Hazel, Minnie, Venus and Sadie. One brother Phillip. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son Newman, parents John and Elizabeth Gilley, sister Betty and two grandchildren. Visitation will take place from the Salvation Army Church today Tuesday and Wednesday where also funeral services will take place on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with Lt. Simms officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. By request of the family in lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

Annie married Chesley Newman Sparkes, son of Ambrose Sparkes and Martha Duval. (Chesley Newman Sparkes was born on 17 Mar 1927 and died on 24 Jun 2002 in Health Sciences Center - St. John's, Newfoundland.)
