From The Holt county Sentinel-January 19, 1877: "Died, January 14th, at the residence of her husband, six miles north of Oregon, Mrs. Allie A. Thomas, wife of Geo. H. Thomas, Esq., in the 23rd year of her age. She was a native of this county, was married about five years, most of which time she has been slowly but surely sinking under the ravages of consumption-that fell destroyer of youth and beauty. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church, and expressed the happy experience of a true child of God. In a dying hour. She but "desired to depart and be with the Lord, which is far better." "Why lament the Christian dying? Why indulge in tears and gloom? Calmly, on the Lord relying. She can greet the opening tomb." Be ye also ready. M.
