Helen Angelbeck, our dear Grams, 105, died peacefully in Havre on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007.
Friends may visit at Holland and Bonine Funeral Home 10 a. m. and 4 p. m. today. Funeral services will be held t 10 a. m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Havre.
Helen Juliet Schweickert was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 10, 1902. She grew up in Brooklyn and on Coney Island. On April 18, 1922, she married Henry Angelbeck. Grams, Papa, and daughters Ginny and Janice made their home in Brooklyn until 1934, when they moved 20 miles east of the city to East Meadow, on Long Island. Following Henry's death in 1950, Grams passed the New York Civil Service exam and was hired as a court clerk in the Nassau County Court, where she worked until her retirement in 1967. Following her retirement Grams and her sister Harriet and brother-inlaw Carlton moved to Whispering Pines, North Carolina. The South never agreed with Grams, and in 1972 she went west to live near daughter Ginny, moving into her Little House on the Prairie in Havre where she lived until her death. Grams gave all the credit for her long life to the grace of the Good Lord. She was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church in Havre, where she could be found in the front pews every Sunday, singing the alto harmony on all of her favorite hymns. She was a life-long Republican and voted in every presidential election since she cast her first vote for Calvin Coolidge in 1924. She loved her garden, enjoyed a glass of beer with her dinner, and her only vice was an occasional chocolate candy from the wellstocked candy dish in her living room. The real joy of her life, however, was her family. She doted on her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, remembering all birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and graduations without the need of a calendar. Grams enjoyed her later years with the support of her family, the loving care provided by April Custer and Dorothy Durocher, and the fellowship of many friends including particularly the Lois Circle from First Lutheran. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry; daughters, Ginny and Betty, and sister Harriet. She is survived by her daughter Janice Straw of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren Gina (Stan) Farnham of Red Lodge, Henry (Donna) Tweeten of Havre, Jeffrey (Linda) Straw of Atlanta, Ga., Chris (Jeanne) Tweeten of Helena, Kathy (Greg) Olson of Granger, Ind., and Andy (Judy) Straw of Fairport, N.Y.; 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-greatgranddaughter. The family suggests memorial gifts to First Lutheran or to the cause of one's choice.

Helen married Henry Herman Anglebeck, son of Christoph Johann Hinrich Anglebeck and Adelheid Homann, on 18 Apr 1922 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. (Henry Herman Anglebeck was born on 14 Mar 1900 in Kings County, New York and died on 7 Jul 1950 in Hempstead, New York.)
