Elizabeth Ann Cottier, 106, formerly of Oregon, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 1994, at Parkdale Manor Health Care Center, Maryville.
She was born Feb. 7, 1888, the oldest of nine children of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Tyson of rural Skidmore.
She attended country school and then graduated from Missouri Valley College in Marshall.
In December 1915, she married Fred Tracy Cottier at her parents' home. The couple lived on a farm in the Napier area. They later moved to Oregon after her husband was elected Holt County collector, a position he held 12 years until his death in 1943.
She worked in the treasurer's office for several years and then was appointed clerk of the magistrate court by Dr. E.F. Kearney in 1952. She served in that capacity under Judge J.B. Steiner, Judge Richard Brodbeck and Judge John G. Bowers before she retired.
She was a charter member of the Holt County Farm Bureau, treasurer of the Oregon Public Library for more than 23 years, a past president of the Z PEO, and a member of the Ladies of Moila Temple, Holt County Women's Republican Club, Holt County Historical Society, and St. Oswald's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, among them Bette Thompson, Mound City, and Mary Alice Cornelison and Marcia Symanski, both of Maryville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at St. Oswald's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church, the Rev. Larry Lewis officiating. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, Mound City, were in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Oswald's-in-the Field Historical Corporation.
