Nellie Emma Straw Feb. 23, 1922 - April 2, 2007 Resident of Oakley Beloved wife of Ernest Straw who preceded her in death in 2000 after 63 years of marriage. Nellie was a homemaker and loving mother of three daughters, Sondra A. Straw Bender, Ernestine Joanne "Tina" Barnacascel, who passed in 1998, and Delores Jean "Lori" Lucas. She was the grandmother of Tami Olsen, Denell Buck, Robert Thomas, Gina Lacombe, Williams Irvin, Ronald Irvin, Debbie Lee, Nellie Humphrey, Ernie Price and Rhonda Lindke. She was a great-grandmother of 20 and a great-great-grandmother of 6. She was one of eleven children and is survived by her brother, Clyde Dishong and her sister, Jewell Henry. Ernie and Nellie came to California in 1944 and have been in Oakley since 1983. She was active in Family Bible Church of Pittsburg. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and was a collector of dolls. Friends and family are invited to a viewing at Higgins Mortuary in Antioch today between 5-8 p.m.; and the funeral service on Thursday at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service and reception.

Nellie married Ernest Straw, son of Frederick William Edward Straw and Joanna Josephine Cisco, on 3 Oct 1937 in Rockport, MO. (Ernest Straw was born on 1 Oct 1918 in Peru, Nebraska, died on 31 Jan 2000 in Oakley, Contra Costa, California and was buried in Oak View Cemetery in Antioch, California.)
