Coeur d' Alene Press, Tuesday, November 10, 1992 Effie M Phifer, 98, Coeur d' Alene, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1992, at her daughter's home in Spokane. She was born May 7, 1894, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Daniel and Rosa (Walters) Straw. A homemaker, she moved to Coeur d' Alene in 1938 from Haigler, Neb., and was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She is survived by son, Clifford Phifer of Hurley, NM; daughters Irene Thompson of Benkelman, Neb., Velma Farlin of Coeur d' Alene, Lucile Corder of Haigler and Naomi Davis of Spokane, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan, in 1935. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at English Funeral Chapel with Pastor Darrel Johnsen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.
Effie married Nathan Delilah Phifer, son of John Hiskey Phifer and Julia Ett Bales, on 14 Mar 1910 in Crestine, Crawford county, Ohio. (Nathan Delilah Phifer was born on 11 Oct 1889 in Lake Creek, Calhoun County, Iowa and died on 24 Oct 1935.)
