Eileen Carey Rakowski, 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 04, 2012. She was born in Albany and resided in Utica for many years before returning to the area fifteen years ago. Eileen was a 1950 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names. She worked for Conrail in Utica for thirty-seven years before retiring. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Walter F. Rakowski. She is the beloved mother of Irene R. Crewell, and the cherished mother-in-law of Benjamin D. Crewell. She is the loving grandmother of Quinton J. Crewell. Eileen is the lifelong best friend of Jane OConnor. Also surviving is her step-daughter, Patricia Rakowski Foss and her family of Jacksonville, FL; as well as many adored nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of ones choice would be appreciated. Eileen married Walter Frank Rakowski, son of Francizek J. Rakowski and Marja Zarnoch, on 7 Feb 1967. (Walter Frank Rakowski was born on 29 Jan 1931, died on 1 Nov 1997 in Marcy, Oneida County, New York and was buried in Cremains - kept by family.)
