Martha Straw Obit
June 2, 1904 , Pulaski Co., Indiana
Obituary of Martha (Straw) Ringen, Pulaski County Democrat, June 2, 1904.
"Martha, wife of John Ringen, died at the home of her brother, Wm. Straw, south of town, last Tuesday evening, aged 44 years. She had been sick since early last fall with consumption, but her friends and relatives had no idea that the end was so near. Last Tuesday she went to the home of her brother, Wm. Straw, to visit and was apparently in as good health as usual. She ate a hearty supper, laughed and chatted until some time after supper, when she choked and suffocated and in a few moments she was dead. Doctors describe her death to the breaking of a blood vessel in her lung. The funeral will be held this afternoon from the Christian Church,
The Ringen family have had a most unfortunate time in the past few years. It will be remembered that about four years ago, two sons, young men were killed by lightning. Since that time Mr. Ringen had a barn and contents destroyed by fire."
Martha' s maiden name "Straw" is of German origin. In German the name is "Stroh."
